1. Download the streaming software “OBS Studio” from https://obsproject.com/.
Be sure to select the version that matches your operating system. When prompted, make sure to grant all the necessary permissions required for OBS Studio to function properly, then click “Continue.”
2. Open the download page for the software previously known as “OBS-NDI” (now renamed to DistroAV as of the latest version 6.0.0) using the link below:

3. Scroll down to the section labeled “Assets” and download the appropriate file for your operating system:

For Windows: Click on the file that includes either
.zip
(for manual installation) orwindows-x64.exe

For Mac: Click on the file with
.pkg
at the end of the filename.
4. Open the “DistroAV” software you just downloaded and follow the instructions in the pop-up prompts.
Once you see the screen shown below, the installation is complete.
Note: You may need to restart your PC or MacBook after installation.
5. Next, download the “NDI Runtime” software
Just like with the previous software, open the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions in the pop-up prompts to complete the installation.
6. Open the OBS application you downloaded earlier on your computer.
At the top of the home screen, click on “Tools” and confirm that “DistroAV NDI Settings” appears in the dropdown menu.
7. Customize your avatar in the Avvy app and complete the setup.
When you're ready to start streaming, tap the broadcast icon (◉) — if successful, the icon will turn red. * Make sure your smartphone is connected to the same internet network as the computer running OBS. * Also confirm that Avvy has access to your local network.
For iPhone users:
Go to “Settings” > “Apps” > “Avvy” to adjust the app’s permissions.

8. Open the OBS application, then go to "Sources" > click the "+" button > select "NDI® Source" from the list
9. In the pop-up window, click “OK” without changing any settings.
On the next screen, click the ▼ next to “Source name”, then find and select “LOCALHOST (Avvy Avatar(xxx))” from the list.
⚠️ If nothing appears under LOCALHOST, or if you can’t find “LOCALHOST (Avvy Avatar~)”, please go back and double-check the previous setup steps.

Make sure your smartphone is connected to the same internet network as the computer running OBS.

When using OBS, the Avvy app must stay open on the screen, showing the avatar and the red ◉broadcast icon.
- Check your device permission settings and make sure to check any additional permission that were required for OBS
10. If your custom avatar appears in the pop-up preview window, you’ve successfully connected it 🎉
Click “OK” in the bottom-right corner to return to the OBS home screen.
